Ethernet Switch

Industrial Ethernet switches have blossomed in recent years from network accessory devices to core network infrastructure components. Customers increasingly rely on industrial Ethernet as their network platform of choice, recognizing that it can deliver concrete business benefits in are-as such as reduced machine downtime. Industrial Ethernet continues to cement its position as the platform of choice in automation architectures. This includes supporting emerging industry initiatives such as the Indus-trial Internet of Things (IIoT), Industrie 4.0, and IT/OT convergence. Both existing and new suppliers are introducing new product configurations targeted to meet the needs of specific installations. A switch is a device used on a computer network to physically connect devices together. Multiple cables can be connected to a switch to enable networked devices to communicate with each other. Switches manage the flow of data across a network by only transmitting a received message to the device for which the message was intended. Each networked device connected to a switch can be identified using a MAC address, allowing the switch to regulate the flow of traffic. This maximises security and efficiency of the network.
