Connector Discrete Wire Housing
Discrete wires are often used when a connection between two boards or circuits is required, and a direct socket to board linkage is not functional. With such a broad definition, the types of housing connectors are equally diverse. Discrete wires are still used in small devices such as cell phones and tablets, but also in large industrial applications with hundreds of amps and thousands of volts. In this regard, the housing connectors for discrete wires must also represent the needs of the application. For small electronic devices, they are designed with a very small pitch and easier assembly for manufacturing. They also must have secure locking mechanisms for the daily mechanical jarring of the devices. For larger power applications, human safety must be a priority resulting in full electrical isolation, industrial strength plastics, and strong locks. For either application, they can house one or multiple wires and channels.
